Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out Of 2025 Champions Trophy Due To Injury

Mumbai: The much-awaited 2025 Champions Trophy is knocking on the door, but Team India’s preparations have suffered a big blow. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been sidelined from the tournament with a back injury. Bumrah sustained the injury during the final match of the Australia tour and was subsequently advised to rest.

Bumrah recently got his scan for his back at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. However, according to the most recent update from ESPN Cricket, he is still not 100 per cent fit to participate in the Champions Trophy.

The Bengaluru scan revealed nothing abnormal, but Bumrah isn’t fit enough to bowl again. He will begin running in a few weeks, and it is hoped he will start bowling in due course, as he is monitored at the Center of Excellence by the BCCI medical team.

Bumrah was included in the 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy, announced on January 18. However, the BCCI changed the team, replacing Bumrah with Harshit Rana. Rana was named in the squad as a backup during the ODI series against England, and he made his ODI debut during the same series.

The revised Indian squad for the Champions Trophy is as follows:

  • Rohit Sharma (captain)
  • Shubman Gill (vice-captain)
  • Virat Kohli
  • Shreyas Iyer
  • KL Rahul (wicketkeeper)
  • Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper)
  • Hardik Pandya
  • Axar Patel
  • Washington Sundar
  • Kuldeep Yadav
  • Harshit Rana
  • Mohammed Shami
  • Arshdeep Singh
