Hitman Rohit Sharma’s 32nd ODI Century Lights Up Cuttack

Cuttack: In a blistering century against England in the second ODI at the Barabati Stadium, Rohit Sharma served a masterclass to Indian cricket fans. Rohit finally back in form, and the wait was worth it for him and his fans, as this was his 32nd ODI century and first in 16 months. The India skipper scored 119 runs from just 90 balls, 12 fours, and seven sixes to put India on top in the match.

While chasing the target of 304 by England, Rohit Sharma created pressure early by smashing three sixes in the first five overs. Rohit showed no signs of rustiness after a floodlight failure, which resulted in a 30-minute delay after dinner before play resumed, and he continued to bang boundaries for fun. His fifty arrived off 30 balls, and he eventually brought up his hundred with a huge six off Adil Rashid.

A Record-Breaking Innings

Cuttack Century Not Only Milestone For Rohit But For History It was his 49th international hundred in all formats, coming to the 49th of Rahul Dravid (48). Rohit’s 61st international century moved him into a tied third with former India captain Kohli in India’s all-time plot for one day runs only behind Tendulkar (49). He also furthered his reputation as one of the most destructive openers of recent times in his innings.

India’s Strong Reply

Despite a good performance with the bat, England, in their innings, could not put a strong squad score on the board, scoring 304 runs with contributions from the entire batting lineup. Rohit, along with a steady batting order, spearheaded India’s response. India stayed on the road despite losing wickets here and there, as Rohit’s innings were the fulcrum of their chase.

When Rohit got out, his score of 119 was a loss for fans, but he had already given India a strong lead. The way he tore into the bowlers, especially through the middle overs, was a testament to his class and experience.

A Special Moment for Fans

Ever since Rohit scored a century, it was a moment of joy for the Indian cricket fans after many days. His batting approach is aggressive but  elegant, and it has always been a treat for viewers to watch, and this inning was no different. Rohit raised his bat to acknowledge the cheers at the Barabati Stadium.

Rohit Sharma’s century has boosted the team as India looks to win the series—no wonder, as it also reflects his stature as one of the modern-day greats. Fans must be excited for more fireworks from Hitman in these matches, as the series is well-poised.
