Gogoi Issues Clarification On ISI Allegations: “I Am RAW Agent”

Guwahati: It’s worth mentioning that a few weeks back, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa accused Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s wife of being an ISI agent. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi countered the BJP in response. If my wife is an ISI agent, then I am an agent of RAW, he said.

Refuting CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gogoi told a TV channel that if his wife is an ISI agent of Pakistan, then he is an agent of Indian RAW. Even so, he noted that those types of allegations barely register in him, hailing as they do from a clan already loaded down with a bunch of others. He claimed that these allegations from the Assam chief minister diverted attention away from the accusations against him.

Previously, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mocked Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and his foreign wife Elizabeth Colburn, saying that “one day it would be revealed how foreign forces under the garb of the ‘ecosystem of George Soros’ shaped many decisions of Assam Congress way back in 2014”.

He claimed that the actual narrative would eventually be revealed. He further cast doubts about the couple’s proximity with ISI and their alleged attempts for brainwashing and radicalisation of fresh minds at the Pakistan High Commission.

When addressing the issue, the Chief Minister highlighted the need for accountability in such cases and maintained that the nation is entitled to the facts and a transparent environment. On the X application, previously known as Twitter, he had pointed out that ‘serious issues’ regarding the ‘ISI connection’ need to be settled.

Referring to Gaurav Gogoi’s wife, he raised concerns over sending youth to the Pakistan Embassy for radicalisation and brainwashing and claimed that she has been refusing to accept Indian citizenship for over 12 years.

Sarma also said that she had links to conversion cartels and had also received foreign funds, including from George Soros, to destabilise national security.

BJP spokesman Gaurav Bhatia also made similar accusations and joined the party with the Chief Minister. He alleged that Elizabeth Colburn was affiliated with ISI while serving under Ali Tauqeer Sheikh at Islamabad’s Climate and Knowledge Development Network (CDKN). Colburn is still a Brit.
