New Delhi: The Union government announced on Sunday that all its employees will have to attend office physically from February 7, without any exemption.
In other words, there will no more ‘work from home’ (WFH) option for any employee.
The decision to resume 100% attendance was taken at meeting of Union ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension, chaired by Union minister Jitendra Singh, in view of decreasing number of daily COVID-19 cases in India.
“Dr Jitendra Singh announced this evening that a review of the pandemic situation was done today and in view of the decline in the number of COVID cases as well as decline in positivity rate, it has been decided that full office attendance shall be resumed from tomorrow and employees at all levels, without any exemption, shall attend office on regular basis with effect from February 7, 2022,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Centre had announced restricted attendance of its employees, below the level of under-secretary, in all departments to 50% on January 3. The restriction was then extended till February 15.
On review, the ministry has now asked heads of departments to ensure all employees must resume work in physical mode by following COVID-appropriate behaviour at all times.
“This is in supersession of the earlier Circular according to which the 50% office attendance rule had been extended till 15th of February,” the ministry said.g
