New Delhi: With Serum Institute of India (SII)-manufactured Oxford University’s Covishield has been rolled out in India as first COVID-19 vaccine, there are four more waiting for approval from the authorities.
According to Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, Zydus Cadila, Sputnik V, Biological E and Gennova are currently in advanced clinical trials stage in India. “In the coming days you may see some of these vaccines too approaching the drug controller for emergency use authorisation,” Bhushan was quoted as saying by NDTV.
The Health Ministry said that there will be a 28-day gap between two doses of COVID-19 vaccine and its effectiveness will begin 14 days after the second dose. The health secretary said vaccine effectiveness can be seen only after 14 days. “So we urge people to keep following Covid-appropriate behaviour,” Bhushan said.
