Mumbai: As the electoral roll in Maharashtra is prepared, political campaigns have begun heating up, and the parties are squabbling. After Yogi Adityanath’s UP slogan Bantenge to Katenge now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come up with a new slogan to fan political flames. The BJP has even released advertisements in the Maharashtra newspapers repeating this slogan.
At an election rally in Beed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the phrase ‘‘Ek Hain to Safe Hain (United to Safe). This slogan has led to more tensions with in the Mahayuti (Grand Alliance), as NCP leader Ajit Pawar has time and again voiced differences on this particular issue while the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) have in support of the statement.
Addressing the rally, PM Modi said Congress can’t digest the development of Dalit, tribal people, and other backward classes (OBCs). He condemned the earlier ideologies of Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi calling them highly anti reservation and going further by pronouncing Rajiv Gandhi against OBC quotas. Saying that Congress is setting people of India against each other based on OBCs, Dalits and tribals, PM Modi referred to it as ‘biggest anti-India plot.’
During another election campaign in Dhule, PM Modi did not spare Congress party by accusing them of only having plan to consider one caste against the other. Congress, other opposition parties have condemned the slogans coined by CM Yogi and PM Modi saying that BJP is playing with the sentiments of the people by resorting to polarise them for votes. The Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also criticised the authenticity of the message saying, “Who in the country has such a threat that this slogan is important enough? Till now the real danger to India is BJP and RSS.
Kharge also questioned the lack of consistency in the RSS and BJP where, on one hand, the Prime Minister used the slogan ‘United, We are Safe’ while on the other hand, their leader says, “Divided We Fall’. Who is in danger? Is there genuinely a problem? The real danger is with the RSS, BJP, Modi and Amit Shah.
Because of this, as the election day approaches, both sides are continuing with their campaigns as they both seek to convin¬ce the voters. Per PM Modi’s new slogan, Y the old slogan was removed has now emerged a contentious issue in the new political rivalry btw BJP& the incumbent Congress. They have been left to choose during the heated political periods as to who pass this message to them.
