Greater Noida: The death of a young woman identified as Deepika has taken a disturbing turn after her postmortem report revealed multiple external and internal injuries on her body.
According to the report, Deepika had swelling and bruising on her face, injuries on her left elbow and left hand, and a large pressure mark on her right thigh. The autopsy also noted a deep wound near the left knee joint, injury marks around the right hand, bleeding from the left ear, and pressure or abrasion marks on the left side of the chest and abdomen.
The internal findings were equally serious. The postmortem report mentioned a haematoma in the brain, a ruptured spleen, bleeding in different parts of the body, and other trauma-related indications. The viscera has been preserved and sent for forensic examination to check for any poisonous substance.
As per reports, the incident took place on the night of May 17 in Jalpura village under the Ecotech-3 police station area of Greater Noida. Deepika, daughter of Sanjay and a resident of Kudi Khera in Badalpur, had been married to Hrithik of Jalpura around 14 months ago. Police said she allegedly jumped from the roof after being troubled by dowry harassment.
While the case was initially reported as suicide, the injuries mentioned in the autopsy report have added fresh questions to the investigation. Police are expected to examine the medical findings, family allegations and forensic report before reaching a final conclusion.
