Mumbai: Continuing its exceptional run at the domestic box office, the romantic drama Cocktail 2 has crossed the coveted ₹100-crore mark globally within its first week of release. On its seventh day in theatres, the film netted an impressive ₹4 crore in the domestic market, taking its total India collections to over ₹70 crore and effectively outperforming several major contemporary star-driven releases.

Directed by standard industry practitioners, the sequel arrived in theatres on June 19, 2026, breaking a 14-year hiatus since the original film. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna in a contemporary love triangle, the production has maintained steady momentum through the weekdays despite a highly cluttered theatrical marketplace.

According to box office tracking agency Sacnilk, the film commenced its theatrical run with an opening day collection of ₹13.50 crore. It registered consecutive growth over the weekend, pulling in ₹16.25 crore on Saturday and ₹17.75 crore on Sunday. The critical first Monday test yielded ₹6.75 crore, followed by ₹6.65 crore on Tuesday, leading up to the steady ₹4 crore wrap on its first Thursday.

Trade analysts point out that Cocktail 2’s commercial triumph is particularly significant given the massive multi-starrer clash it faced. The film shared marquee space with six other high-profile releases, including Varun Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Peddi, Bobby Deol’s Bandar, Kangana Ranaut’s Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, Diljeet Dosanjh’s Main Wapas Aaunga, and Vikram Bhatt’s horror outing Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past.

By maintaining a dominant theatre occupancy, Kapoor has effectively outpaced the immediate box office pull of 10 major contemporary actors featured across these competing projects. Exhibitors attribute this sustained performance to the strong pull of the franchise name, positive word-of-mouth regarding the leading trio’s chemistry, and a melodic soundtrack that has resonated well with urban youth audiences.

With no major solo releases scheduled for the upcoming weekend, trade representatives predict that the film will continue to dominate the multiplex circuits, paving the way for a highly lucrative second-week run.
