Chandigarh: A district court in Chandigarh has summoned Bollywood actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan, and several directors of Style and Quotient Jewellery Private Limited in connection with an alleged fraud case related to a Being Human jewellery showroom. The court has directed all the accused to appear before it on October 5 and file their replies regarding the serious allegations levelled against them.
The legal action follows a formal complaint filed by Arun Goyal, a local businessman and resident of Manimajra. In his plea, the complainant alleged that he was subjected to financial fraud and manipulation under the pretext of opening a retail outlet for the popular Being Human brand. The dispute highlights severe operational and contractual grievances that reportedly resulted in a massive financial loss for the local investor.
According to the details shared in the complaint, Arun Goyal opened the Being Human jewellery showroom in the NAC area of Manimajra with an estimated investment of three crore rupees. This venture was initiated after he signed an official agreement with Style and Quotient Jewellery Private Limited. The businessman stated that he strictly followed all the terms and conditions set by the company, spending nearly one crore rupees merely on preparing the showroom infrastructure. Additionally, a substantial amount was invested in stocking the outlet with Being Human branded jewellery.
The complainant has accused six individuals associated with the company of misleading him with false assurances to secure the massive investment. According to the petition, the company abruptly stopped providing any operational or logistical support once the showroom was launched. The businessman further alleged that the central store responsible for supplying the Being Human brand jewellery to his outlet has remained completely shut since February 2020.
This unexpected disruption in the supply chain severely impacted the business, as no new merchandise was delivered to the Manimajra outlet. The complainant maintains that the lack of stock and corporate support ruined the commercial viability of the showroom, causing him to suffer huge financial setbacks.
The upcoming court hearing on October 5 is expected to shed more light on the contractual dispute and determine the further course of legal action against the Bollywood superstar and the company directors.
