Beijing Metro Collision: Over 500 Injured in Train Crash

Beijing: A collision between two metro trains in Beijing has left over 500 people injured, with more than 100 suffering fractures. No fatalities have been reported.

The incident occurred at around 7 pm local time yesterday on the Changping line, when one train failed to apply its brakes properly while passing through a slope. This caused the train to lose balance and collide head-on with another train coming from the opposite direction.

The impact of the crash separated the last two cars of one of the trains from the rest of the consist. The accident took place approximately 2 kilometers from the Jishu園站 railway station.

Passengers reported feeling a sudden jolt and seeing darkness inside the train before an announcement informed them that the train had broken down and they should evacuate.

Emergency services, including ambulances and fire engines, quickly arrived on the scene to assist the injured passengers, who were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The Beijing administration has ordered an investigation into the cause of the accident. The Changping line is currently closed for repairs, and it is not yet clear when train services will resume.

According to media reports, the metro train was traveling from Shirki station to Life Science Park station when the collision occurred. The exact cause of the sudden loss of balance is still under investigation.
