Mumbai: The new episode of Sony TV’s evergreen quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 saw a light moment yet a touchy one as a contestant in the hot seat asked an unlikely question to host Amitabh Bachchan. The contestant, whose hobby is poetry, asked the following question playfully, “Sir, I compose poetry as a hobby, but what do you do during yours?
And his inimitable style, Bachchan replied with a mischievous grin, “Me? Sir, I have a very popular game for recreation, and that is ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati.'” His insightful observation captivated the audience.
Expanding further, the great actor continued, “I continue playing this game, but between you and me, we do not have free time. Nevertheless, whenever we find an opportunity, we say—let’s shoot for ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati.’. But, amidst all the jocular conversation, Bachchan suddenly became emotional for a brief moment.
Pointing at the live public, he thanked them, stating, “It is because of these people that we are here. Their presence gives us energy.” The whole studio burst into applause, touched by his emotional words.
The veteran actor then went on to include a deep comment that struck very hard: “The day this show ends, I will end too.” When others tried to interrupt, he insisted, “No, I mean it. For an artist, this is everything.”
Looking back on his career, Bachchan highlighted the importance of appreciation from the audience. “You see us on screen, you admire what we do, and that gives us energy. When you applaud for us, that becomes our sustenance. That is what keeps us going,” he explained.
Amitabh Bachchan has been hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati for more than 25 years. Last year, he had thought of quitting the show for a while, but the public demanded his return in large numbers. Every year, he comes back with fresh energy to host the legendary quiz show. But this year, the TRP ratings of the show have not seen a huge spike.
