Agnipath Protests: BJP Chief Appeals To Youth To Understand Scheme, Have Faith In PM Modi

New Delhi: As the violent protests over the Agnipath scheme showing no signs of abating in some states, BJP president JP Nadda appealed to the youth to understand the scheme in its entirety.

Describing the recently-announced military recruitment drive as a revolutionary step,

“I know that efforts are on to mislead the youth. I also know that some forces in the country do not want this change (Agnipath scheme to be implemented). That is why I would request the youth to have faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has served the country well,” Nadda said in Karnataka’s Chitradurga on Saturday.

Nadda asserted that the scheme will keep the country’s military strong and in high esteem in the world.

Faced with criticism from Armed forces aspirants and Opposition leaders, the Central government announced a number of concessions and offers for ‘Agniveers’ who will be released after completing four years of service.

The Union Home ministry said 10% vacancies will be reserved for Agniveers for recruitment in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles.

The Defence ministry, on the other hand, pledged a 10% reservation in Indian Coast Guard and defence civilian posts for Agniveers.
