New Delhi: The central government employees are an unhappy lot today as they feel cheated by the 7th Pay Commission.
They are unsatisfied with the minimum pay scale and flagged the issue several times with the Finance Ministry.
The wait could be over now.
If media reports are to be believed, good news awaits them. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman might announce the hike in the minimum pay scale when she presents the general budget on July 5.
What might be the hike:
The employees have been demanding an increase of Rs 8000 and an increase in the fitment favour by up to 3.68 timed. The 7th Pay Commission recommended a common fitment benefit of 2.57 to be applied for all employees.
It remains to be seen whether the FM yields to the quantum of demands.
Benefit to tax payers:
The upcoming budget could also propose raising the income tax limit to Rs 3 lakh of annual income, media reports suggested. The current limit is Rs 2.5 lakh.
