Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP) chief Sharad Pawar has been readmitted to a hospital in Mumbai, hours after being discharged from a medical facility in Pune. The 85-year-old veteran politician is currently undergoing further medical evaluations at Breach Candy Hospital.

According to family sources, Pawar’s condition remains stable. He was initially admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on November 2 after complaining of a cough, chest discomfort, and fatigue, which reportedly followed extensive tours in drought-affected areas.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to the NCP leader on Wednesday morning to inquire about his health. According to Vitthal Maniyar, a close associate of Pawar, the Prime Minister spoke with great affection, advising the veteran politician to prioritise rest.

“You do not need to worry about the country when people like us are here. You should take care of your health and guide us as always,” PM Modi reportedly told Pawar.

In response, Pawar expressed his gratitude, assuring the Prime Minister that he was resting under the care of his medical team. “When you people are there, I do not need to worry about the country. Continue your work,” Pawar replied.

Pawar’s daughter, Baramati MP Supriya Sule, confirmed the hospital transfer via a post on X (formerly Twitter). She stated that her father was doing much better but had been shifted to Breach Candy Hospital for additional tests. Sule also expressed her gratitude to the medical staff at Ruby Hall Clinic and thanked supporters for their wishes.

Party leaders have confirmed that Pawar remains under close medical supervision. His scheduled tours and political engagements have been cancelled to allow him to recuperate fully.
