Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth continues to prove his undisputed dominance at the global box office. His latest action-entertainer, ‘Jailer 2’, is not only breaking records across India but has now created massive history overseas. The highly anticipated sequel has officially become the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time in the United Kingdom, leaving several major blockbusters behind.

According to box office tracking portal Koimoi, the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial has been drawing massive crowds since its release. Benefiting heavily from strong positive word-of-mouth, ‘Jailer 2’ recorded a phenomenal opening of 394,000 pounds on its first day in the UK. Maintaining a steady momentum, the film has minted an impressive 1.6 million pounds (approximately Rs 15.19 crore) within just 10 days of its theatrical run.

With this remarkable feat, ‘Jailer 2’ has successfully dethroned ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s action-thriller ‘Leo’, which previously held the top spot with a lifetime collection of 1.58 million pounds in the UK market. The Rajinikanth starrer has also comfortably bypassed the UK box office collections of other Kollywood giants, including Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ (1.339 million pounds), its own 2023 prequel ‘Jailer’ (1.337 million pounds), and ‘Coolie’ (1.11 million pounds).

The tremendous theatrical response is not just limited to the UK. The action-drama has emerged as the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2026. Made on a staggering budget of Rs 350 crore, ‘Jailer 2’ has already crossed the massive Rs 650 crore milestone in worldwide gross collections, firmly establishing itself as a massive commercial success for the producers.

Serving as a direct sequel to the 2023 hit, the new film brings back Rajinikanth in his iconic role, supported by a heavy pan-Indian star cast. The ensemble features prominent actors including Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, Ramya Krishnan, and SJ Suryah in crucial roles.

As the film progresses through its second week, trade analysts expect the UK collections to grow even further, setting an unprecedented benchmark for future Tamil releases in the overseas market. Fans and distributors alike are celebrating the veteran actor’s massive box office pull, proving that the ‘Superstar’ phenomenon remains completely unparalleled.
