New Delhi: A major political controversy has erupted following Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s objectionable remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late father. Top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda, launched a scathing attack on the Congress chief, accusing the party of crossing all limits of decency in public political discourse.
The controversy originated during an event in Patna, Bihar, which was held to mark the 139th birth anniversary of Dr. Shri Krishna Singh. While Kharge was criticizing the central government from the stage, a young man in the audience interrupted him, stating that PM Modi is not going anywhere. Visibly irritated by the interruption, Kharge responded angrily in Hindi, stating, “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” (Even Modi’s father will have to go). Following the exchange, chaos ensued, and Congress workers present at the venue reportedly assaulted the youth.
Strongly condemning the statement, Home Minister Amit Shah took to social media to express his outrage. Shah stated that Kharge’s comments expose the Congress party’s deep-rooted hatred and frustration. “In a bitter display of panic, Congress leaders have reduced themselves to using absolutely distasteful and disgraceful language. Mallikarjun Kharge’s comments on the Prime Minister’s late father have torn apart all limits of decency,” Shah remarked. He further added that consecutive electoral defeats over the past 12 years have left Congress with no real issues or policies, reducing them to abusive politics.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP National President JP Nadda called the language “shameful” and a direct reflection of the opposition’s ideological bankruptcy. Nadda pointed out that the Congress party, unable to digest continuous electoral rejections by the Indian public, has stooped to attacking the Prime Minister’s deceased family members.
Senior BJP leader and Bihar government minister Nitin Nabin also heavily criticized the Congress leadership for the incident. Nabin questioned the party’s democratic values, stating that political opposition should have dignity, but dragging deceased family members into public speeches has become the true culture of the opposition under Rahul Gandhi. He further noted that the public is closely observing this indecent behavior and will give a fitting reply when the time comes.
