Patna: In a major breakthrough in ongoing investigations into recruitment examination irregularities, notorious paper leak mastermind Sanjeev Mukhia has reportedly confessed to his direct involvement in several high-profile competitive exam leaks during custodial interrogation by the Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU).

Mukhia, who has been held in judicial custody at Patna’s Beur Jail following his earlier arrest in connection with the BPSC TRE-3 paper leak case, was taken on a fresh police remand to face intensive questioning regarding historical and recent examination breaches.

According to senior EOU officials, prolonged questioning sessions led Mukhia to admit his active role in orchestrating leaks and compromising the integrity of multiple major examinations. These include the 2017 NEET preliminary conspiracy, the Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC) recruitment exam of 2023, and the Bihar Teacher Recruitment Examination (BPSC TRE-3).

Investigators revealed that the custodial interrogation successfully extracted vital technical and logistical details regarding the inner workings of his inter-state “solver network.” Mukhia reportedly disclosed the identities of key syndicate members, financial conduits, and local facilitators who helped execute the breaches.

While the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) previously granted Mukhia a clean chit in the separate NEET-UG 2024 controversy—subsequently leading to his discharge in that specific matter by a special court—the fresh admissions made to the EOU have breathed new life into older, unresolved probe files.

Armed with the newly uncovered disclosures, specialized EOU teams have expanded the scope of their investigation. Authorities have initiated a series of synchronized raids across multiple districts in Bihar to apprehend remaining suspects, middlemen, and active members of the solver gang identified during the confession.
