Jodhpur: Showcasing growing strategic ties and aerial combat readiness, the air forces of India and Japan have officially commenced their bilateral joint military drill, ‘Veer Guardian 2026’, at the Air Force Station in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Scheduled to run for 14 days from September 9 to September 22, the mega air power show brings together frontline fighter fleets from both nations. The exercise is primarily designed to enhance bilateral interoperability, tactical coordination, and mutual trust between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF).
The skies over Rajasthan will witness a formidable display of combat platforms. According to defense observers, the Indian Air Force has fielded its premier strike capabilities for the event, featuring the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, the versatile Sukhoi Su-30 MKI, and the advanced Rafale fighter jets. Through this extensive deployment, the IAF aims to demonstrate its frontline operational efficiency and comprehensive combat capabilities on a global stage.
On the other hand, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force has deployed its highly capable F-2A fighter jets to participate in the tactical maneuvers. Officials closely tracking the developments noted that the joint drills will allow pilots and aircrew from both nations to engage in complex simulated aerial combat and mission-oriented scenarios.
