New Delhi: To mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a nationwide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Resolution Campaign). The campaign will kick off on his birthday, which the party observes annually as ‘Seva Diwas’, and will conclude on October 17.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, BJP President Nitin Nabin shared details of the expansive, month-long programme. The celebrations hold special significance this year, as October 7, 2026, will mark the completion of PM Modi’s 25 years in continuous public office—a journey that began on October 7, 2001, when he took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
“When we look at PM Modi’s entire tenure, we see that not only have epoch-making decisions been taken, but there has also been a transformation—not just in the lives of ordinary people, but in their mindset as well,” Nabin stated. He emphasised how the Prime Minister successfully evolved his mantra from serving the public to serving the nation.
Highlighting the economic and social strides made under Modi’s leadership, Nabin noted that India has transitioned from being part of the ‘Fragile Five’ economies to the world’s fastest-growing major economy. He lauded the youth for becoming “job givers rather than job seekers,” pointing out that India is now the world’s third-largest startup nation.
The BJP has planned a series of outreach programmes to engage citizens across the country. On September 17, the party will organise massive blood donation camps. Later that evening at 7:00 PM, beneficiary families of various government schemes will light an ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ (Lamp of Blessing) to express their gratitude for the Prime Minister’s 25 years of public service.
Furthermore, a unique ‘Seva Yatra’ will be flagged off, travelling from Vadnagar in Gujarat—the Prime Minister’s birthplace—to his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi. Dedicated youth teams, comprising 50 members each, will traverse 17 states to raise awareness about the government’s achievements.
On October 7, to commemorate his 25th anniversary as a head of government, the party will organise a ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’. This will include nationwide bike rallies and foot marches where citizens will take a solemn pledge to help build a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
