Tehran: Amid widespread speculation regarding the deteriorating health of Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, a brief video has emerged attempting to put the rumours to rest. Iran’s Mehr News Agency released a 12 second clip showing the supreme leader interacting with people, marking his first reported visual appearance since the recent military conflicts.

The release comes shortly after Israeli media claimed that Mojtaba was in a highly critical condition and had been admitted to a hospital. Some reports even suggested that news of his death would not be surprising. While Tehran had not officially responded to these claims, the newly surfaced video appears to be an indirect rebuttal. However, the exact date of the recording remains unverified by the news agency, leaving lingering doubts about his current medical status.

Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the position of Iran’s supreme leader following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a joint US and Israeli strike on February 28. Since then, his public appearances have been virtually non existent, with his administration relying heavily on written statements.

Speculation regarding his well being has been intense over the past few months. Previous reports indicated that Mojtaba sustained severe facial injuries during the recent strikes, forcing him into isolation. Former United States President Donald Trump also recently claimed that the Iranian leader was severely incapacitated by the military operations and was completely unable to govern effectively.

Adding to the mystery, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian recently admitted during a state television interview that direct communication with the supreme leader is currently very difficult. Security protocols have reportedly forced Mojtaba to communicate with senior officials through intermediaries. Furthermore, a Saudi news channel named Al Hadath cited an Israeli security source in July, claiming that Mojtaba was not even present in Iran at the time.

As questions continue to mount regarding his true condition, the unverified video has sparked fresh debates. The situation presents a complex geopolitical puzzle, raising crucial questions about the internal stability of Iran and the future strategic moves of the United States and Israel in the volatile region.
