The event follows the official launch of the online registration portal for the flagship Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, which took place on August 1. Designed to fulfill a key electoral promise made by the ruling administration, the social welfare scheme aims to empower women across the capital by providing monthly financial support of Rs 2,500 to eligible residents.

Under the operational guidelines, the disbursed funds are structured to provide comprehensive support, with a portion directed toward daily household needs while another segment is secured through structured deposits. Officials noted that the entire verification and disbursement process is managed digitally to ensure transparency and direct benefit transfers into the bank accounts of verified beneficiaries.
While supporters celebrated the swift execution of the electoral promise, the political arena witnessed usual friction as opposition members raised questions regarding implementation criteria and administrative processes.
