Ayodhya: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust underwent a major administrative change on Monday following the recent controversy over the alleged theft of public donations. In a highly anticipated meeting in Ayodhya, the trust formally accepted the resignations of its General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Dr. Anil Mishra. To manage operations and restore public faith, the trust has appointed senior member Krishna Mohan as the new interim General Secretary.
The 73-year-old Krishna Mohan, a resident of Hardoi and a retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre, brings immense administrative experience to the table. He has long been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and currently serves as the regional head (Kshetra Sanghchalak) for Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Mohan was officially inducted as a member of the Ram Mandir Trust just last year, filling the vacancy left by the late Kameshwar Chaupal to represent the Dalit community.
Speaking to the media after assuming his new responsibilities, Krishna Mohan outlined his immediate priorities. He emphasized that the primary objective of his interim tenure will be to ensure strict action against anyone found guilty in the donation embezzlement case. Acknowledging that certain individuals exploited administrative loopholes, Mohan stated that plugging these gaps and upgrading the operational management of the temple’s daily affairs will be handled with utmost urgency.
“If the image of the trust has been tarnished and a sense of distrust has been created in society, we will do whatever is necessary to completely remove it,” the new interim General Secretary assured the public. He firmly reiterated the trust’s commitment to maintaining absolute transparency in managing the hard-earned donations made by millions of devotees worldwide.
To further strengthen the temple’s future administration, the trust has also constituted a special three-member committee tasked with selecting a permanent Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This high-level search committee comprises retired judge Pramod Kohli, retired Lieutenant General Vishnukant Chaturvedi, and Suresh Haware.
With Krishna Mohan at the helm of the daily operations, the trust hopes to swiftly navigate through the current controversy. The next meeting of the Ram Mandir Trust has been scheduled for July 22, where further structural decisions are expected to be finalized.
