Patna: Popular educator and YouTuber Khan Sir’s coaching institute, Khan Global Studies, has come under scrutiny after a fire safety audit reportedly revealed several deficiencies in compliance with mandatory fire safety norms. The findings have raised the possibility of administrative action, including sealing of the institute, if corrective measures are not implemented within the stipulated timeframe.
The development comes at a time when Bihar authorities are conducting an extensive fire safety inspection drive across educational institutions, hospitals, hotels and other public establishments following concerns over compliance with safety regulations. Several establishments in Patna have already faced action for failing to meet prescribed fire safety standards.
According to officials associated with the audit process, inspectors found shortcomings related to fire safety infrastructure and preparedness at the coaching institute. Authorities have reportedly directed the management to address the identified deficiencies and ensure full compliance with safety guidelines. Failure to do so could invite stringent action under relevant regulations.
The issue has gained additional attention because Khan Global Studies has been in the spotlight in recent days over a separate controversy involving a firing incident outside the institute. The incident triggered a police investigation after videos surfaced showing gunfire during a clash near the coaching centre. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the episode, and multiple arrests have already been made in connection with the case.
Officials, however, have clarified that the fire safety audit is part of a broader statewide enforcement exercise and is not directly linked to the ongoing criminal investigation. The objective of the campaign is to ensure that institutions with large public footfall maintain adequate safety arrangements to prevent loss of life in case of emergencies.
Fire safety experts have repeatedly stressed the importance of functioning fire extinguishers, emergency exits, evacuation plans and regular safety audits in educational institutions. Given the large number of students who attend coaching centres in cities such as Patna, adherence to these norms is considered critical for public safety.
The management of Khan Global Studies is expected to respond to the audit findings and undertake corrective measures wherever necessary. Authorities will reportedly conduct follow up inspections to verify compliance before deciding on any further action.
