New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued detailed guidelines for students who wish to apply for verification of marks or re evaluation of answer sheets after the declaration of board examination results. The board has clarified the process to be followed if students find any discrepancy in their evaluated answer books.

Under the revised post result framework, CBSE has introduced a more transparent system that allows students to first access scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets before seeking verification or re evaluation. The move is aimed at helping students identify potential errors and make informed decisions regarding further review of their marks.

According to the board, only those students who have obtained scanned copies of their answer books will be eligible to apply for verification of marks, re evaluation of answers, or both. The entire process is conducted online, and applications submitted after the prescribed deadline will not be considered.

CBSE has advised students to carefully examine their scanned answer sheets for issues such as unchecked answers, errors in awarding marks, mistakes in totaling, or discrepancies in evaluation. If any such issue is noticed, candidates can submit an online request through the official CBSE portal within the specified period.

The board has also emphasised that students should read all instructions carefully before applying, as only one application for each stage of the process will be accepted. Once submitted, candidates will not be given another opportunity to modify or resubmit their request.

Officials further clarified that re evaluation may result in either an increase or a decrease in marks. Any change, even by a single mark, will be reflected in the final result. In cases where marks are revised, students will be required to surrender their existing mark sheet and obtain a fresh one issued by the board. The revised marks awarded after the process will be treated as final and binding.

CBSE stated that the new mechanism is designed to strengthen transparency and reduce grievances related to evaluation. The board has urged students and parents to follow the official schedule and complete all formalities online to avoid inconvenience.

With lakhs of students awaiting clarity on their results, the updated re evaluation process is expected to provide a structured avenue for addressing genuine concerns while ensuring fairness and accountability in the examination system.
