Bhopal: The Central Bureau of Investigation has stepped up its probe into the Twisha Sharma case after the High Court cancelled the bail of her mother in law Giribala Singh. A CBI team reached Singh’s residence on Thursday, marking a significant development in the investigation that has drawn wide public attention in Madhya Pradesh.
According to reports, the agency may question Giribala Singh in connection with the case. However, it was not immediately clear whether the CBI team had gone to serve her a notice or to take her along for questioning. Twisha Sharma’s husband, Samarth Singh, has already been taken into CBI custody.
The investigating agency is also preparing to set up a temporary camp office in Bhopal. Sources said the CBI has written to the Bhopal Police Commissionerate, seeking a suitable and secure place for the office. The agency has said that important case documents, evidence and records need to be kept safely in a controlled environment so that the investigation can proceed without disruption.
In another important step, the CBI has reportedly written to telecom companies to preserve and provide call detail records and tower location data of mobile numbers linked to the case. The agency has sought details for the period between May 12 and May 20. These records are expected to help investigators examine communication patterns and movements connected with the case.
Twisha Sharma, a former model and actress, was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12. After her death, her family alleged that she had been harassed by her in laws over dowry. The case was later handed over to the CBI, which re registered the FIR earlier lodged by Madhya Pradesh Police.
The FIR names Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh and her mother in law Giribala Singh as accused. With the latest court development and the CBI’s increased field activity, the investigation has now entered a crucial stage.
The case has triggered concern among the public, particularly because it involves serious allegations of dowry harassment and a suspicious death within a matrimonial home. The coming days are likely to be important as the CBI examines evidence, questions those linked to the case and moves ahead with its probe.
