Mumbai: Mumbai Indians climbed to seventh spot on the IPL 2026 points table after edging past Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.

The five-time champions defended their total of 199/5 to secure only their second win of the season from six games. Gujarat Titans were never in the chasing losing wickets at quick intervals before folding up for a paltry 100 in 15.5 overs.

The victory lifted MI to 4 points, but their net run rate of -0.772 keeps them in the bottom half of the table.

Punjab Kings continue to lead the standings with 11 points from six matches, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals on 8 points each. Gujarat Titans, who were beaten by MI, remain mid-table with 6 points from five outings and an NRR of 0.018.

MI’s campaign has been patchy so far. After opening with a six-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders, Rohit Sharma’s side lost four on the trot before Saturday’s result. “These teams have displayed flashes of strong performances but will need greater consistency to climb higher,” an early-season assessment noted.

At the other end, Kolkata Knight Riders remain at the bottom with 3 points from seven games.

The table is still wide open, with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings all locked on 4-6 points. With half the league stage left, MI will need a strong run to keep their playoff hopes alive. Their next test comes against Lucknow Super Giants later this week.
