New Delhi: Starting November 1, 2025, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will implement significant changes to the Aadhaar system, enhancing convenience and security for over 1.4 billion residents.

Key Changes Effective November 1, 2025

1. Online Demographic Updates Without Document Uploads

Aadhaar cardholders can now update personal details such as name, address, date of birth, gender, and mobile number online via the UIDAI portal or mobile app. The system will automatically verify these changes against government databases like PAN, passport, and ration cards, eliminating the need for document uploads and reducing manual errors.

2. Revised Update Fees

Effective October 1, 2025, the following fees apply:

Demographic updates: ₹75

Biometric updates (fingerprint, iris, photo): ₹125

Document updates: ₹75 (free online until June 14, 2026)

Aadhaar printout: ₹40

Home enrolment: ₹700 for the first person, ₹350 for each additional person at the same address.

These fees will remain in effect until September 30, 2028.

3. Free Biometric Updates for Children

Biometric updates for children aged 5–7 and 15–17 will be free of charge from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026. This initiative aims to ensure accurate identity data for minors.

4. Mandatory PAN-Aadhaar Linking

Linking PAN with Aadhaar is now mandatory. Failure to do so by December 31, 2025, will render the PAN inactive from January 1, 2026. New PAN applicants must authenticate their identity using Aadhaar.

5. A simplified KYC Process

Banks and financial institutions can now complete Know Your Customer (KYC) verification using Aadhaar OTP, video KYC, or in-person verification, streamlining the process and enhancing security.

6. Upcoming UIDAI Mobile App

UIDAI plans to launch a mobile app that will provide a QR code-based digital Aadhaar, reducing the risk of fraud and misuse. This app aims to offer a convenient and secure way to access Aadhaar services.
