New Delhi: Jagdeep Dhankhar has formally requested the allocation of a suitable government bungalow in the national capital, citing the need for an official residence befitting his constitutional position.

The request was made to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which is responsible for allotting government accommodations to high-ranking officials.

Sources indicate that Dhankhar, who resigned as Vice President in July, has expressed interest in a Type VIII bungalow — typically reserved for top dignitaries — located in the prestigious Lutyens’ Delhi zone. These bungalows are known for their expansive layouts and proximity to key administrative buildings, making them ideal for senior government functionaries.

Dhankhar’s move comes after a period of temporary arrangements, during which he was reportedly residing in a guest facility. Officials familiar with the matter stated that the request is in line with protocol and that the ministry is currently reviewing available options.

While no final decision has been made, the allotment process is expected to be completed soon, ensuring that Dhankhar has a permanent residence. The development has sparked mild political chatter, though government insiders maintain that such requests are routine and procedural.
