Mumbai: On June 27, 2025, at the age of 42, the star of the song Kaanta Laga, Shefali Jariwala, died in the city of Mumbai in a suspected case of cardiac arrest, leaving her family members and fans shocked, as police examine anti-aging drugs that she used.
She was famous in the 2002 music video and Bigg Boss 13 and died late in the night on Friday at her Andheri residence. She was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital by her husband, Parag Tyagi, who, however, stated that doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival at the hospital. On Saturday evening, her last rites were performed at Oshiwara Crematorium, where a broken-hearted Parag could be witnessed saying a final goodbye.
The police have interviewed eight witnesses, including family members, house staff, and doctors at Bellevue Hospital, to establish what happened on that night. As investigations show, Jariwala was consuming anti-aging drugs such as vitamin C and glutathione injections, which she took for at least seven to eight years. On the day she died, June 27, she had been fasting at home to attend a puja but in the afternoon took an anti-aging injection. She started shivering, her blood pressure dropped, and she fainted.
Different items such as anti-aging vials, vitamin supplements, and gastric pills were taken away by the forensic teams in her house. According to a police source who spoke to NDTV, these medicines may have contributed to the cardiac arrest significantly, but the official cause will be seen once postmortems are completed and the chemicals tested. There is no sign of marital squabbles or foul play, and has been reported to the Mumbai Police as an Accidental Death Report.
The death of Jariwala has raised issues over the safety of anti-aging treatment. It is observed that medical literature shows that the heart can be disturbed due to the use of hormonal injections, which are mostly affected when used on an empty stomach and can cause arrhythmias. She had also once had epilepsy, and she took medication, and the condition was found in her when she was 15 years old, but her close friend denied the rumors that epilepsy had to do with her death by saying, “She was fine, had no blockages, and died of cardiac arrest.”
Their case is under investigation, and the authorities are awaiting lab reports to see whether the anti-aging pills helped to cause her sad death. The death of Jariwala, which was similar to the cardiac arrest-induced death of her co-star in Bigg Boss 13, Sidharth Shukla, in 2021, highlights heart dangers to young celebrities.
