Afghanistan Cannot Be Stopped: Semifinal Hopes After Beating England

New Delhi: Afghanistan’s cricket team has made history in the ICC Champions Trophy. The nation’s cricketers defeated England, winning for the first time in the tournament and simultaneously eliminating the defending champions. After this wonderful show, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja shared some critical information about the current situation in the Afghan team’s dressing room.

Speaking on a YouTube show, Jadeja revealed that the Taliban rule Afghanistan and forbid the players from playing music in their dressing room. However, they receive permission to make an exception when they win. Jadeja praised the team’s advancement under coach Jonathan Trott and noted that they “are getting better and better” because of the discipline.

Afghanistan has been making progress for many years. “These boys have worked incredibly hard. Trott has instilled discipline in them, and you cannot beat them in that aspect,” Jadeja stated. “This is one team that is getting better and better. It’s not just cricket; it’s their life. They’ve been growing for the last seven to eight years. So, today you will be hearing some music because they have been allowed to celebrate. They’re not just playing cricket; they’re enjoying life.”

According to the rules and restrictions, Afghanistan is still able to qualify for the semifinals. After eliminating England, the Afghanistan cricket team has only one competitor left: Australia. Jadeja was Afghanistan’s mentor at the 2023 World Cup. Additionally, he had no fee for guiding the team to a higher level, since it was an honour for him.

In addition, in 2023, Afghanistan almost defeated Australia in the World Cup before Glenn Maxwell’s double century. This time, the Afghans are ready to take revenge and change history. The Afghan team will face Australia on the 28th of February. If they beat Australia, their place in the semifinals will be confirmed.
