Mumbai: In a twist of events that left many stunned and worried in the entertainment world and among his admirers, renowned comedian Sunil Pal was reportedly involved in a kidnapping and extortion plot recently. A development that caught everyone off guard. The distressing situation unfolded when Sarita Pal raised concerns about her husband’s whereabouts on the 3rd of December after being unable to reach him for more than a day. Thankfully, though, Sunil Pal made it back to Mumbai unharmed. The unsettling details he shared about his experience have understandably unsettled people.
Sunil Pal reported to the authorities that he was kidnapped and extorted while visiting Meerut, in Uttar Pradesh, for a comedy show recently. He stated that a group of five to six individuals abducted him on the evening of December 2nd around 6:30 PM and kept him captive until the evening of December 3rd. Throughout this period, the supposed perpetrators allegedly made threats against Sunil and his family, compelling him to make a payment totaling ₹800,000 under duress.
The Mumbai Police have officially lodged a First Information Report (FIR) targeting individuals as suspects in the case under sections. 138 and 140 (subsections 3 and 4) and also sections 308 (subsections 1 and 4) alongside section 3 (subsection 7) according to the BNS Act regulations. In a turn, in the investigation process, the case has been shifted to the supervision and jurisdictional control of the Lal Kurti Police Station located in Meerut for detailed examination and inquiry purposes.
The sequence of events indicates that Sunil departed from his residence on December 1st for his comedy performance in Meerut. Concerned by his absence beyond December 3rd, his wife became worried.
