Lahore: On Thursday a devastating act of terrorism shook the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan when armed individuals attacked a convoy of three vehicles in the Lower Kurram district There were casualties, from the gunfire—roughly 50 fatalities and 20 wounded individuals—with women and a law enforcement officer among those affected The incident occurred as the vehicles were traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar, in the Uchatt region according to sources
Several individuals who were harmed are presently receiving care at Mandori Hospital; however some of them are still, in condition. The attackers aimed at most of the passengers in the vehicles who were said to be Shia Muslims. A minority group, in that area known for tensions and conflict between the majority and Shia minority leading to multiple deaths, in Kurram district recently as confirmed by a law enforcement source who mentioned that several commuter vehicles heading to Peshawar were singled out by the extremists.
President Asif Ali Zardari conveyed his sympathy to the victims and their families in response, to the attack which he described as “savage and cruel.” He emphasized that harming travelers is an act that should be met with severe consequences and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families in this challenging period of time.” Zardari urged officials to prioritize care for the wounded and to swiftly address those accountable, for the incident.
