Perth: And as the big Border-Gavaskar Trophy edition draws closer, that’s the name of the Indian team’s star batsman, Virat Kohli that has made headlines although not for his performance. Kohli continues to remain a catch despite of recent woes in New Zealand Test series and Australian media keeps foocusing him even before commencing of the series. His arrival to Australia earlier than others to help him adjust to conditions has always been applauded but Kohli’s no-show at the team’s first training session can easily make headlines.
Indian cricket team has been to and fro reaching Perth in different groups, ahead of the first Test starting on 22nd November. Whereas KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and few other players are already in Australia representing India A team, rest of the players arrived in Perth in the last two days. Kohli, however, left for Mumbai on Saturday preceding the major group. This early morning knock off paved the fanatics into thinking that he would take every practice as chance to shape up.
Almost all team India players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul had been seen practicing on Tuesday 12 November for a fairly good time at Perth’s famous WACA stadium. Navdeep Saini, Akash Deep, and Ravindra Jadeja were also seen practice in the nets. Missing from this session, though, was Kohli. People turned to social media to ask where Kohli could be as fans and even analysts thought about his recent struggle in their minds.
As has been seen with Kohli’s poor form in the last few matches, therefore every session comes as crucial for him. His fans were looking forward to seeing him playing again and being set primed to bring a lot to the table from the onset of this series. Time and again, the Indian supporters have been waiting for Kohli to practice that eagerly awaits the first Test match against Australia. With his performance he is going to contribute a lot in the improvement of chances of India’s victory in this crucial series.
While the reason for Kohli’s non-presence will perhaps remain undecided for now it is to the delight of fans and critics waiting to see him get back on the crease. Kohli is now in a new test series, Border-Gavaskar trophy, and he has the added pressure of coming out of such a bad form and perform against such a strong Australian side.
