Chandigarh: Amidst the buzz of the presidential elections in the United States, Donald Trump has emerged victorious as the Republican candidate. In a remarkable turn of events, Saba Haider from Ghaziabad has claimed victory as a Democratic candidate in the DuPage County Board elections, decisively defeating Republican Patty Gustin by a margin of 8,500 votes.
This win is particularly significant for Saba, who narrowly lost the previous election by just 1,000 votes. Her success has sparked immense joy within her family in Ghaziabad. Her father, Ali Haider, expressed his pride, stating, “Today, I feel proud of my daughter. She is intelligent, and with everyone’s blessings and her hard work, she has achieved this milestone.”
Ali Haider shared insights into Saba’s educational background, highlighting her accomplishments. “My daughter topped her B.Sc. from the city and earned a gold medal in her M.Sc. from Aligarh Muslim University. After that, I arranged her marriage, and she moved to America with her husband, who is a computer science engineer. Politics runs in our blood, and when she got an opportunity in the U.S., she seized it. Her friends inspired her, and she won the election.”
Saba’s mother, Chandni, is equally overjoyed by her daughter’s achievement. “I feel immense pride in my daughter. Throughout the electoral campaign, I supported her and continuously encouraged her. I always motivate my family to overcome their fears so they can achieve great heights in life. My daughter felt quite alone in America and called me several times asking for my presence. Unfortunately, I couldn’t visit due to my eye surgery. I had been there during the last U.S. elections, but this time, I couldn’t make it. She told me over the phone that she worked so hard that her legs went numb from exhaustion.”
Saba Haider’s victory represents not only a personal achievement for her and her family but also serves as a testament to the potential for international residents to make significant impacts in their communities abroad. Her journey from Ghaziabad to local governance in the U.S. is inspiring for many, embodying the essence of determination and resilience.
