A Bloomberg report indicates that the Gelephu Governor, Lotay Tshering, said that Adani Group was interested in the project. Currently the government of Bhutan has laid down a plan to establish a 1000km township across Bhutan towards the India Bhutan border and comprising renewable technologies such as the solar and the hydropower technologies. Some talks are still being had with Adani Group on this project.
The governor disclosed that potential locations for renewable energy projects in the region have been discovered, including at least 400 of them, with a capacity expansion goal of the 20GW sought in an effort to create a renewable power network. The project will entail contracts in construction of roads, bridges and facilities which might attract investors from Asia. In addition to energy and hydropower sectors which are currently in consideration there are also plans for an international airport and a port.
How Adani Group is increasing its overtones?
:This deal if realised will give Adani Group more control in the neighbouring country Adani Companies. At the momenst, the group is looking for are venturing into other countries such as Israel, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Vietnam.
