Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is reeling from its recent defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh and is determined to avoid repeating past mistakes in the upcoming by-elections. In preparation for the by-elections to 10 seats in UP, a crucial strategy meeting was convened at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s official residence at 5 Kalidas Marg.
During the meeting, it was emphasised that the party would prioritise selecting candidates with a strong chance of winning, rather than relying on recommendations. This marks a shift from previous practices and aims to bolster the party’s prospects in the bypolls.
Minister of State Swatantra Dev Singh, emerging from the meeting, shared some insights with the media. “Many issues including development projects and the flood situation were discussed in the meeting. We are going to win all 10 seats, so the assembly bypolls were also discussed,” Singh stated.
The BJP’s focus on fielding only winning candidates signals a strategic shift as the party seeks to regain its footing in Uttar Pradesh. With the by-elections approaching, the party is keen to demonstrate its commitment to effective governance and electoral success.
