Sonia Gandhi Expresses Disappointment Over Congress’s Defeat in State Elections, Calls for Unity

New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi, the former president of the Congress party, has expressed disappointment over the party’s defeat in the assembly elections held recently in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. She addressed the Congress Parliamentary Party’s (CPP) meeting to discuss the electoral setbacks and the party’s strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In her speech, Gandhi acknowledged the challenges faced by the party but expressed confidence that patience and perseverance would lead to success. She emphasised the importance of the party’s ideology and values and urged members to work hard to address the issues affecting the country.

Gandhi highlighted the significance of diversity as India’s strength and criticised the BJP for undermining this unity. She called upon party members to take their disappointment in the state elections and channel it into positive action for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. She emphasised the need to address issues such as economic inequalities, rising commodity prices, and unemployment.

Gandhi also expressed concern over the suspension of opposition MPs in Parliament and the lapses in Parliament security. She condemned the suspension of MPs for raising legitimate demands and called the security lapses on December 13 unforgivable. She urged the party to fight against forces that threaten the social fabric of the country.

The Congress president’s address at the CPP meeting underscores the party’s determination to address the challenges it faces and to work towards strengthening its position in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
