New Delhi: Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya, who sustained an injury on his left ankle during the match against Bangladesh in Pune, has been ruled out of top-of-the-table clash with New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 22.
“The all-rounder was taken for scans and is advised rest. He will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team. He will not be taking the flight to Dharamsala with the team on October 20 and will now join the team directly in Lucknow where India play England,” the BCCI said in a media release on Friday.
Hardik twisted his left ankle during the ninth over of the match and his first while trying to stop the ball with his leg on the follow-through. Instead of Dharamsala, the all-rounder will be travelling National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for medical assistance, the India Today reported.
India have remained unbeaten so far in the World Cup. They will take on table-toppers New Zealand on October 22 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. There is a six-day break before their next game against defending champions England at Ekana stadium in Lucknow.
