Noida: In a shocking incident, child climate activist Licypriya Kangujam’s mobile phone was snatched while she was live on Facebook.
It was her first Facebook live, but an experience she would want to forget soon.
The 11-year-old Licypriya stepped out of her residential complex on Sunday evening and stood on the roadside to spread the message of ‘Green Diwali’ and avoid bursting firecrackers to ensure the air is not polluted.
After her message to her nearly 2 lakh followers in Hindi, Licypriya was speaking in her mother tongue when two bike-borne persons arrived at the site and took away her phone.
The miscreants apparently were not ready to take ‘unsolicited’ advice from a kid, who is called the ‘Greta Thunberg of India’. The snatching was captured on live stream.

The 11-year-old reportedly ran after the ‘thieves’ for some distance before giving up the chase and going to a police station in Greater Noida to report on the incident.
She also tweeted about the incident on Twitter, tagging Noida Police and seeking their help
“It’s very urgent. My mobile phone was just snatched away by two bike-borne thieves while I was going live on my Facebook in front of the Bellana Street market, Greater Noida, Sector 16B opposite Nirala Aspire. Kindly help me!” Licypriya posted.
Additional DCP of Central Noida Saad Mian was quoted as saying by India Today that they have constituted a team to probe the case.
Licypriya, who is from Manipur, has been extremely vocal in seeking serious and meaningful action on climate change. She addressed the COP25 climate change conference in Madrid and was also among the speakers at an event to mark 2020 Earth Day in Washington.
