Chennai: In a breakthrough in the suicide case of a 17-year-old boy in Ambattur, near here, police have arrested his teacher under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and abetment to suicide of IPC.
The teacher was reportedly in a relationship with the teenager but snapped ties with him after getting engaged to another man.
According to The Times of India, the boy – who appeared for his Class XII exam — went for a counselling session to join an Art college on August 30. On returning home, the boy took his own life.
Police registered a case based on the family’s complaint, though no suicide note was found.
Police questioned the boy’s family members and searched his phone.
They found out that the boy was in contact with the lady teacher and there were intimate pictures of the two of them.
An all-women police team questioned the victim’s friends and school staff to get information on the duo’s relationship. They came to know that the boy attended tuitions at a centre which was run by the lady teacher for the past two years.
Once the boy got to know that his ladylove had got engaged to another man and had started to avoid his phone calls, he pleaded with her not to ditch him.
Not able to convince her, the frustrated boy decided to commit suicide.
