New Delhi: Actor Deep Sidhu and Iqbal Singh, arrested in connection with the Republic Day violence in the capital during the farmers’ tractor rally, were on Saturday taken to Red Fort to recreate the scene of events.
A crime branch team took the duo to Red Fort, where a group of farmers had gone on January 26 and unfurled a religious flag, The Indian Express reported.
Delhi Police have said Sidhu was a “prominent player” behind the R-Day vandalism at the iconic Red Fort. Arrested from Karnal in Haryana by a team of Delhi Police’s Special Cell, Sidhu was on Tuesday sent to a seven-day police custody by a city court.
A senior police officer said that the team investigating the case will note the duo’s version about how things unfolded at Red Fort and try to match it with other versions.
Iqbal Singh, who was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest, was nabbed from Hoshiarpur in Punjab on Tuesday night by the northern range of Delhi Police’s Special Cell.
Delhi Police had announced cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of Sidhu, Iqbal and five others who are believed to be involved in the vandalism at Red Fort.
