Mumbai: MS Dhoni, one of India’s most successful cricket captains and a global icon, has inspired countless players around the world. However, amidst the admiration, Yograj Singh, the father of former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, has levelled serious allegations against Dhoni, claiming that he ruined Yuvraj’s cricketing career.
In a recent interview on a YouTube channel, Yograj Singh did not hold back, reiterating past claims that Dhoni was responsible for his son’s premature exit from Team India. “I will never forgive MS Dhoni,” Yograj Singh said. “He should look at himself in the mirror. He may be a great cricketer, but what he did to my son cannot be forgiven.”
Serious Allegations and a Demand for Recognition
Yograj Singh has a history of making critical statements against Dhoni, and this time he accused the former captain of deliberately curtailing Yuvraj’s career, suggesting that his son could have played for another four to five years. “MS Dhoni has ruined my son’s life. Yuvraj could have continued playing for many more years. I challenge everyone to find a son like Yuvraj,” he added. Yograj further called for Yuvraj to be honoured with the “India Ratna” award, recognising his contributions to Indian cricket, including his fight against cancer and his pivotal role in India’s victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.
A History of Tension
Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni shared the cricket field for Team India for many years and were key players in India’s major victories during their era. Once considered close friends, their relationship has been the subject of speculation, especially given Yograj Singh’s repeated criticisms of Dhoni since Yuvraj’s departure from international cricket in 2017.
Yograj Singh’s remarks have sparked renewed debate among cricket fans and commentators, adding another chapter to the saga of two of India’s most celebrated cricketing heroes. As the cricketing world watches, the impact of these allegations on the legacy of MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh remains to be seen.
