Women Must Not Feel Limited By Gender Says Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has recommended the creation of a society whereby people’s talent and contribution define them rather than their caste, gender, religion, or social level. Speaking at an event honouring women, Gadkari emphasised that the changing world should not limit women by their gender.

Emphasising women’s increasing participation in leadership, Gadkari claimed 75% of the best performers in the modern society are women. Gadkari made these remarks at an event in New Delhi, celebrating the exceptional contributions women have made in various spheres.

Attending the ‘Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar Women’s Honour’ event hosted by the Kamla Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani Trust of Mumbai to celebrate exceptional women’s contributions to society, Gadkari Manohar Lal Khattar, the Union Minister, also made attendance to the ceremony.

Khattar discussed women’s empowerment and the progress Haryana has made recently to support gender equality. When he thought back on his time as Chief Minister of Haryana, he remembered the strong ingrained gender stereotypes in the state. Still, he attributed major shift to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” project.

During his term, Khattar tried to improve women’s safety by establishing thirty police stations run just by female officers. The aim was to establish a safe and encouraging environment where women could anonymously report their grievances without any anxiety.

Underlining the need of merit-based success over social divisions, both ministers stressed the need of constant efforts in creating an inclusive society where women are given equal chances to flourish.
