Why Is #RIPTwitter, #GoodbyeTwitter Trending Online?

New Delhi: In a historic move, hundreds of whatever is left of the remaining staff at Twitter gave a mass resignation, following Elon Musk’s ultimatum to employees — work “long hours at high intensity” or leave. Now, hashtags such “RIP Twitter” and “shutdown” are calling attention to the doomed fate of the company.

Now, the microblogging platform is awash with emotional messages from employees leaving Twitter and its merciless culture of late.

On Thursday, Twitter announced it was temporarily closing its offices, revoking employee access to its building at least until Monday.
The shutdown came about an hour after the 5 pm ET deadline by Elon Musk for Twitter employees to officially sign up for his “extremely hardcore” vision of the company.
Since less than 50% of the remaining staff of nearly 4,000 agreed to work at “Twitter 2.0”, they have effectively resigned under the terms offered in the ultimatum, Business Insider reported.
