Wayanad Welcomes Priyanka: Gandhi’s New Journey Into Indian Politics

Wayanad: Indian Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has finally taken the political plunge, filing her papers for the Wayanad by-election. Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka arrived in Wayanad late Tuesday and were met by Kerala PCC Chief, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and RoI Rahul Gandhi, establishing family and party support to her candidature.

Addressing the People of Wayanad: A New Beginning

In her grand rally before filing her nomination, Priyanka said she is honored to begin her political journey from Wayanad. ‘This is my new beginning,’ she said as she addressed supporters. “This is actually probably the first time in 35 years where I am here asking your support. Trust me and I will protect your identity /concerns. What I want to say is, that I have come to join this family.”

Such is the method that PC also talked about her brother Rahul’s 8000-kilometre yatra known as Bharat Jodo Yatra and also said that Congress has values and they have been following those values for Generations. “I will come to your homes to understand your problems,” she also said to directly connect with the People of Wayanad.

Large Number of People Turned up For A Roadshow of Priyanka

The congress General Secretary of east Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections Priyanka Gandhi led a huge roadshow in kalpetta, waynad on wednesday morning before the nomination filing. Tens of thousands of people, UDF leaders and UDF workers, her supporters thronged the streets, Congress leaders, her brother Rahul and husband Robert Vadra followed her. The place was joyous, people were waiving party flags, holding balloons and having drums ready to welcome Gandhi siblings.

Priyanka’s direct involvement in election this time marks a new phase in her political career that many observer the same way. The by-election has arisen due to Rahul Gandhi giving up Wayanad seat after he won both Wayanad and Rae Bareli in the recent general elections.

A Competitive Contest Ahead

Priyanka Gandhi has a tough contest in the by-election. Her opponents are LDF candidate Satyan Mokeri and the BJP’s Navya Haridas. This by-election arose because Rahul Gandhi chose to vacate the seat he newly won in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 from Wayanad.
