Hyderabad: Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury was on Thursday booked for assaulting a public servant and deterring him from discharging his duty.
Following a complaint by a sub-inspector, Renuka was charged under Section 353 of IPC.
A video posted on Twitter by ANI shows Renuka shows the Congress leader grabbing the collar of a policeman during the party’s protest against Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons to Rahul Gandhi. Surrounded by a posse of police personnel, Renuka argues with them before being dragged by female cops towards a police van.

“I’ve been booked… I didn’t assault, I don’t have anything against that young man. He never did anything to me. I was losing balance and I held on. If you move, I’ll have to hold this to steady myself as we were being pushed and bullied from back,” Renuka told TV channels.
A case was also registered against Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy under IPC sections 151, 140, 147, 149, 341, 353, informed Punjagutta PS Inspector Niranjan Reddy.
