New Delhi: Former BJP MP Bhairon Prasad Mishra’s son died after he allegedly failed to get a bed at a top government hospital in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow. Following the incident, the former MP from Banda sat on a dharna with his son’s body at the SGPGI Hospital. The government has now suspended a doctor and initiated a probe.
The victim identified as Prakash Mishra, who had a kidney ailment, was rushed to the Emergency ward of the hospital on Monday but failed to get a bed and later died. The ex-BJP MP claimed that he did not get any help from the medical officer. After the incident, the former MP staged a protest with the body of his son. He said he would not end the protest unless the doctors mend their ways. According to ex-Banda MP, there were several people complaining about the Emergency Medical Officer, a report in NDTV said quoting Mishra.
As the news of the incident reached higher officials, the hospital authorities assured strict action and set up a committee to probe the incident. Reacting to the incident, SGPGI Director Dr RK Dhiman said the doctor asked him to take the patient to the ICU, but there was a shortage of beds.
