[Watch] CUET: Parents, Students Upset; UGC Says No Retest For Those Who Missed Exam

New Delhi: Students who missed the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) on Friday won’t be allowed to sit for a retest, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar has said.

Students in several cities missed the test due to last-minute changes in exam centres, according to reports.

“There is no way we can hold a retest for them,” the UGC Chairman said.

However, 197 candidates in West Bengal’s New Jalpaiguri and Punjab’s Pathankot, where the test was cancelled due to technical issues, are likely to get another chance.

CUET is being conducted for the first time by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The first phase is being held this month — July 15, 16, 19 and 20. Phase 2 will be held in August.

CUET scores will now form the basis for undergraduate admissions in the country, especially in popular central universities like Delhi University. It’s the second largest admission test in India after NEET-UG.
