New Delhi:The Waqf Amendment Bill has also triggered a continuous political controversy, despite passing both houses of Parliament. The bill is mostly opposed by many political parties that are worried about it. In the new turn of events, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to social media to attack the government over the bill.

In a post on the social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “I was afraid that the Waqf Bill is for Muslims but tomorrow it will be for everyone.” “I said that the Waqf Bill is a threat to Muslims at present, but this is just the beginning; legislation on Waqf will spread to other communities later,” he wrote. From the Waqf Bill to the present, the Christian community’s response to RSS has accelerated. We must protect the Constitution, which is all that stands between us and those attacks.

Rahul Gandhi also posted an article that said the RSS had trained its guns on the land of the Catholic Church following the passage of the Waqf Bill. On Tuesday, an article on the web portal of the magazine Organiser, which is linked to the RSS, said, “Who owns more land in India? Catholic Church vs. Waqf Board: It was proposed that Catholic institutions were the largest landowners in non-governmental India, owning 7 crore hectares of land.

The Waqf amendment bill passed in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Following nearly 12 hours of intense debate, the Lok Sabha passed the bill with 288 votes in favour and 232 against. The bill received 128 votes in favour and 95 against it in the Rajya Sabha. The bill will be sent to the President, who will give approval once it becomes a law.

The Congress has said it would move to the Supreme Court after the bill was passed but Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said shortly after the bill’s passage, ‘We will take this to the Supreme Court.’ Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) from Tamil Nadu, too, said they would approach the court after the bill was passed.
