Voting February 5th: The Election That Will Shape Delhi’s Destiny

70 Seats, 3 Parties, 1 Winner: Delhi's Electoral Thriller Begins

NewDelhi: Polling in Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 will be held on 5 February and shall be concluded within 22 days, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced today, with results to be declared by 8 February.

Talking to the media, chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the polls in all 70 constituencies in Delhi will be held in one go on 16 February. The national capital is home to 1.55 crore registered voters, who comprise 83 lakh male voters and 71.74 lakh female voters. It will cover 13,033 polling booths.

Kumar defended EVMs from the ongoing controversies about “EVMs being foolproof devices. They can’t cast illegal votes or tamper with them,” he said. However, Kumar said that EVMs are sealed after voting and cannot be infected with viruses or bugs.

Kumar rejected critics of the EVM system by citing a court ruling: “The court ruled that EVMs can never be hacked.” There are baseless allegations of EVM tampering.”

The CEC also mentioned the recent row over the list revisions and said names got deleted from the electoral rolls only through a legal process.

Delhi looks set for a fierce election battle among political parties, which will intensify their campaigns in the weeks to come.
